Connecting Minds to Accelerate Innovation

BioInnovation Institute
The BioInnovation Institute (BII) supports life science start-ups and entrepreneurs, helping them transform world-class research into products and solutions that benefit people and society. To strengthen this mission internally, BII envisioned a digital community platform connecting the many companies and individuals they support.
Working closely with UX designer Helle Skak-Iversen and the BII team, we transformed scattered systems and processes into a cohesive, intuitive platform. In this digital hub, members can connect, collaborate, and share knowledge. The platform brings together internal communication, file management, company and employee profiles, news, events, and a powerful calendar system into one accessible, scalable solution.
As lead designer, I was involved from the earliest stages, contributing to the information architecture and wireframing. I’ve found that when all designers are engaged early in the process, better ideas and stronger concepts emerge. Together, we refined the system’s structure, developed new ways to handle specific functions, and crafted page layouts that presented content in a more engaging and revealing way, enhancing the overall user journey. I later took charge of the UI, bringing the platform to life with interactive design and a robust design system that ensured consistency, flexibility, and scalability. The outcome is a unified digital environment that connects people, fosters collaboration, and turns a network of individual companies into an active, interconnected community that drives innovation forward.
